Why Running: During the serious economic times all levels of government are facing, experience in how to handle difficult issues in county government is a key to success. LaRue County is one of very few in Kentucky that have not had to implement a new taxing district or implement an Insurance Premium or Occupational Tax (around us they include: Breckinridge-Insurance Prem. Tax, Meade-Ins. Prem. Tax, Jefferson- Ins. Prem. Tax, Bullitt-Ins. Prem. Tax, Spencer-Occup. Tax, Washington-Ins. Prem. Tax & Occ. Tax, Marion-Ins. Prem. Tax, Taylor-Ins. Prem. Tax, Green-Ambulance Dist. Tax, Hart-Ambulance Dist. Tax & Occ. Tax, Grayson-Occ. Tax, LaRue County- NONE. We’ll continue to manage within our means while making improvements in our community.
Top Issue Beliefs: I’ve been very fortunate to have been involved with numerous activities on a local, regional and state level that have offered me the opportunity to build relationships and gain in depth knowledge of local, state and federal government operations and how partnerships can be forged that improves LaRue County. I’m proud of the success we’ve had at improving county infrastructure (roads, bridges, public water lines, industrial sites, etc). We’ve also made tremendous progress at enhancing our tourism activities, beautifying our community, enlarging our local Lincoln Heritage (addition of Lincoln Boyhood Home to National Park Service, Lincoln Museum, Boy Lincoln Statue, etc.) and making improvements that make LaRue County a better place to live. Fiscal management and job creation are areas we have to continue to concentrate on. We have had several clients show interest in the facility owned by CMH Manufacturing in the Industrial Park. We’ll continue to double the effort to see a business or industry locate there that will offer numerous good paying jobs for our community. We’ll continue to work with local businesses and community establishments in any way possible to enhance and make them stronger and LaRue County better.
