Why Running: My efforts would center on serving all of the children in the community; one child is no more important than another. Each classroom subject is crucial, no class or subject taught in our schools should be considered a throw-away class. Our schools are here to serve the educational needs of all the children. All stakeholders, parents, district personnel, teachers, as well as students must be partners in this endeavor if we are to be successful.

Top Issue Beliefs: Create a long-term vision, mapping a course that provides the necessary opportunities for students to reach their full potential. The board is responsible for establishing and maintaining a structure that supports this vision, empowers the staff, and provides leadership. While Morgan County is improving the education that it provides its students, the cost of continuing to do so is increasing. Because of decreased revenues in the county, it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain improvements in both academics and other necessary expenses including staff and facilities. I strongly believe that we have tremendous teachers and staff working with our children. However, the decisions the Board makes during the next several years of lean economic times will drastically affect the outcome of our students. We must find ways of maintaining and improving our county's educational offering, while wisely shepherding the funds used to support our schools and students. Each dollar spent must be justified and at every opportunity be used to improve the education at each school.
